The Kane Chronicles. Puffin, 2011. ISBN 978 0141 335667.
The Throne of Fire is the much awaited sequel to The Red Pyramid. The extraordinary adventures of Carter Kane and his sister Sadie whose Egyptian roots have come forward in time to thrust them into the perennial war between good and evil. The Kanes and their cohorts gallop at break neck speed as the forces of evil build to threaten the existence of Earth itself. The powers of the ancient Egyptian gods have to be learned, as does the use of the mysterious conduit of the duat. They achieve their goals by the skin of their teeth but leave the reader wondering what will happen next - and when will the third in the Kane Chronicles be ready. The young teen readers (and older ones too) who enjoy a complex adventure with an Egyptian flavour will love this carefully crafted read.
